1. Co-Writing Songs:

I finish what you start. We call that co-writing songs, whether you need a lyric for your melody, a melody to your lyric, or want me to complete the music and lyrics you’ve begun but can’t seem to finish.

To be sure we’re a musical match, before agreeing to move forward co-writing songs, I need to listen to your work several times and go through the lyrics/melodies very carefully. I do that by setting up a consultation with you

My consulting/creative fees are more than fair. I never negotiate/waive them. Thank you.

If we agree to engage in co-writing songs together, I’ll deduct my initial consultation fee from my creative fee.

For legal reasons, any material sent to me for consultation or for the possibility of co-writing songs, without my fee enclosed, must, regrettably, be discarded immediately. Thank you for respecting the professional parameters of this consultancy and the rules I follow regarding co-writing songs.

Please be sure you keep a master copy of each song/lyric you send me. Don’t ever send your only copy.

Material sent to me for consultation is not returned unless you specifically request it when you send your consulting package and enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope in it. Once your consultation is complete, I simply don’t have room to keep your work.

Copyright Symbol:

The copyright symbol must appear on all work sent to me for any purpose.

If you are sending your music and lyrics as mp3’s and Word files for consultation or for the possibility of our co-writing songs, since there isn’t a copyright symbol on the keyboard, please type an open bracket, followed by the letter C, followed by a closed bracket, eg: ( C ). That is the copyright symbol, and should be followed by the year in which you wrote the song plus your full, legal name, eg: 2008 Carrie Underwood.

With the copyright symbol on your work, I am happy to accept it, with my fee, for consultation. Without it, I simply cannot. No exceptions.

If you are sending your music and lyrics on CD’s with typed/written lyric sheets, you can simply add the copyright symbol yourself by hand. That handwritten symbol is still: an open bracket, followed by the letter C, followed by a closed bracket, eg: ( C ), and should be followed by the year in which you wrote the song plus your full, legal name, eg: 2008 Carrie Underwood.

Since we are not attorneys, we hope you understand that we cannot give you legal advice. For your questions about all legal matters, including copyright, we recommend you contact an entertainment lawyer, not a law student, paralegal, freebee website in Walla Walla, but a real lawyer with expertise in intellectual property law, not whiplash or DUI. Your original work is too important to trust it to anyone else.
