What Happens in a Lyric Consultation?
with Molly-Ann Leikin
SongMD.com
Step by Step
When you send Molly, the SongMD, your lyrics for consultation, here's what happens:
A:
l. She will review each of your lyrics several times through, make detailed notes and help you decide which lyrics are the strongest for the current marketplace.
2. Assuming what you send for consultation is a good fit for that marketplace, Molly will hook you up with composers in your genre who are looking for talented new lyricists.
3. Assuming your lyrics spark some original little black notes in the composer's heart, that tunesmith, either a very talented client or a colleague of Molly's, will write a melody to your words. There is no charge for that.
4. Once your whole song is written - the words and the music - the composer, who most likely has a home studio and can record your song using his/her software, will make a demo recording of your song. Since he/she is doing the work at his own computer, and it's his/her song, too, chances are good there will be no cost to you for the recording.
5. Assuming the demo recording of your song is a good fit for the marketplace, Molly can help you and your writing partner hook up with all the right people in the real music business, who are looking for your special fingerprint as a writing team, for their projects.
B.
1. If you send ten lyrics for consultation, nine are awesome and the tenth is 92% there, Molly Leikin will go through it syllable-by-syllable, making very specific suggestions on how to tweak your work just a tad so it's as strong and competitive as the very best lyrics out there. That's all included in Molly's consulting fee.
2. Once your lyric is revised and ready for the marketplace, steps 1-5 above apply.
3. You earn money as a songwriter when your songs are licensed for movies and TV shows, commercials, for all logged performances for profit, (radio, TV plus all over the web), and when your work is downloaded. You also receive what we call "mechanical royalties" when each copy of a CD with your song(s) on it is sold.
For more detailed information on how all the royalties from your songs are paid to you, please read Molly Leikin's books, "How to Write a Hit Song" and "How To Be A Hit Songwriter", both of which are available in paperback, and used, at amazon.com.
Write well today. We're in your corner all the way.
