Borderline Normal
By Molly-Ann Leikin
During a recent, routine physical, my doctor pronounced me “borderline normal”.
Really? Bring it on.
Early in my squashed, Canadian struggle to write and sing, I heard nothing but “don’t be so sensitive”, and felt as though someone had drawn a red line right through my dreams, because I just couldn’t connect with the should’s of life in Hadassah Heights.
Somewhere along the Jacques Cartier Bridge to New York, I dumped the whole contaminated mess into a snow bank, and declared myself a songwriter who wasn’t going to try to fit in anywhere but my own heart.
I’ve been borderline normal ever since, and celebrate my eccentricities.
I hope you are enjoying yours, too. That’s where our songs come from.
